Why do I want to help you plan your ceremony your way?
I strongly believe life is for living. While we will all live life differently, it’s too precious to let others tell you how to live yours.
That philosophy has bought me back to the beauty of the Peak District and to becoming an Independent Celebrant. I love celebrating life’s events and in fact all things local. If I’m not out walking in our stunning countryside, I’ll be enjoying local hospitality or humming along to my Indie soundtrack in my kitchen cooking local produce.
Being born and raised in Sheffield, weekends always involved family walks and picnics in the Peak District. It became a very special place to me and then my husband during our term breaks We were pulled back here 25 years later after detours working and living in Madrid, Gran Canaria, Southern Norway, London, Perth and Sydney.
I love creating your heartfelt ceremony.
It was watching all the weddings on the beach, by the opera house, in the countryside in Australia that made me train to become an independent celebrant. The ceremonies were all unique and looked different but had one thing in common, a celebrant.
My own wedding ceremony was also undertaken by a celebrant. It was as we wanted; just the two of us, overlooking the sea, walking up the aisle together to our favourite song and saying our own vows. Our celebrant suggested the place, found the witnesses, told our story together beautifully and thoughtfully decorated the area, even bringing umbrellas – just in case!
So here I am, wanting to give back to others and create with you, a thoughtful, personalised, heartfelt and memorable ceremony in the Peak District or Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester or Staffordshire.
My background.
Having spent 25 years in international education and 10 of these as Principal, I know a thing or two about people and how unique each of us is. I’ve had the privilege of welcoming new students, building their confidence, helping them find their own path, learn in the way that suits them and then celebrate their success at graduation.
Being part of this celebration of life has made me a great listener and storyteller; to be considerate, thoughtful and empathic of others; pay attention to the details, plan well, calmly adapt if things go off track and of course to truly cherish and celebrate diversity and individuality.
